National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) recipients have been denied access to the program because of glitches in the online system, while service providers have been unpaid.

Adelaide speech pathologist Diana Bleby said she had thousands of dollars worth of invoices unprocessed and would struggle to pay staff if the issue was not fixed soon.

Many NDIS clients have plans and funds managed by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) with an online portal making payments to providers instead of directly from clients themselves.

NDIA chief executive David Bowen said for most people, the online portal was working fine.
